In 1981- 1982 Jon Sanders set the record for the furthest distance sailed continuously at sea, 48,510 miles and the longest time spent alone on a sailing voyage, 419 days as he sailed twice around the world in his S&S34 In 1986- 1989 he broke that record sailing 3 times around the world in 47 foot yacht Parry Endeavour. He spent 658 days and 21 hours alone at sea. This October he sets sail again on his 10 circumnavigation, what a legend! |
David DicksIN 1996 David Dicks only just missed out on setting the record as the youngest person to complete an Eastbound Single Handed Non stop Unassisted Circumnavigation of 265 days aboard his S and S 34 Seaflight
Jesse Martin was 20 days older than David when he completed his record but because David received a bolt to repair his rig off the Falkland Island he did not qualify for the unassisted record. |
